Credit cards are being targeted as the new platform for apps - platform in this case is the payment network. Software developers add new capabilities to these cards by programming the payment network to link online applications to specific payment events. Consumers then, can 'drag and drop' these apps to their smart cards similar to how they add apps to their smartphones.
